ASAP Talent Services is the leading SAP focused search firm in the U.S. Our SAP Recruiting Team has been engaged by a client in Northern California to recruit & hire a SAP Operations Manager. This is a full-time corporate role but can be home-office based somewhere within 2-3 hours of our client's HQ location. This is a home-office role with low travel to the client site.
The role could be a great fit for a SAP Functional Manager with experience leading an ECC 6.0 environment (FI/CO, MM, SD, Successfactors, Concur, etc)
Ideal locations might include: Sacramento, Oakland, Bay Area, Fresno, San Jose, Northern California, CA.
SUMMARY
The SAP Operations Manager will be responsible for the ERP suite and interfacing systems. This position is tasked with maintaining and supporting the SAP global templates, design and processes. The SAP Operations Manager will lead, design and be hands-on with configuration and RICEF development, delivering projects (either directly with hands-on involvement or managing the delivery through a third-party service provider or contractors), as well as managing the overall quality of production support for these areas of the business. This position will have the technical experience to understand our solutions and communicate status, issues, mitigate risks and manage the functional area across all stakeholders. Responsibilities include identifying, deploying and educating business users on the functionality available and leveraging functionality to drive efficiencies and increase responsiveness. The SAP Operations Manager will collect requirements, help translate the needs into a Business Requirement Document and author a BRD, create test cases and guide users with validation of delivered functionality. For larger initiatives, will work with the business to create a business case/benefits case for such projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide an IT center of expertise establishing and maintaining global standards, processes and driving common solutions across the enterprise
- Understand business objectives; research and provide guidance, options and proof of concepts, if appropriate, to solve business technology needs
- Maintain a working knowledge of current and emerging technologies/capabilities with the SAP and Concur application suites
- Evaluate product releases and identify new capabilities benefiting the organization, as well as a strategy for implementing those capabilities
- Lead team through daily task assignments for production support and continuous improvement projects, ensuring compliance with appropriate project methodology
- Create project and release plans, monitor project costs and schedules to ensure timely completion and implementation of projects within approved time and budget
- Identify opportunities to establish joint IT and functional programs that develop and/or deploy new capabilities
- Write functional specifications for change requests, creating test plans, process documentation and conducting user training; develop functional specification documentation and provide solutions based on the business requirements; accountable for accuracy and completeness of documentation to support change requests

- Configure and perform unit and integration testing or review the work done by the service providers to ensure quality
- Track and drive adoption of platform technologies and shared best practices across the organization
- Resolve cross-functional issues with different user groups and teams

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- SAP ECC (required)
- SAP S/4 HANA (a plus)
- SAC (a plus)
- SAP/ERP infrastructure; security, databases, operating systems, applications and servers

Experience and Training Guidelines:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience
- 10+ years’ experience in an SAP ECC environment demonstrating highly competent abilities in standard software development life cycle management and project management techniques and methodologies
- Strong leadership skills and experience with leading projects with both on-site and remote resources
- System management processes, business requirements, solution design and configuration, and user acceptance testing
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Strong active listening skills and the ability to translate needs, concerns and solutions across functional and stakeholder groups
- Demonstrated creativity balances with practicality to meet business objectives and team needs
- SAP S/4 HANA a plus
- Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Highly self-motivated, self-directed and attentive to detail
