SAP Functional Solution Architect (Director Level role)
Location/s: Could be based near Portland, OR or N. Boston, MA - New England or NH.

Role Summary
The SAP Functional Solution Architect is a strategic, hands-on leader responsible for designing and delivering integrated SAP solutions aligned to enterprise goals and best practices. This role bridges business requirements and technical execution, providing functional leadership across SAP initiatives while partnering closely with senior SAP leadership and business stakeholders.
This position is ideal for an experienced SAP professional ready to step into broader responsibility—driving solution design, guiding delivery teams, and influencing SAP roadmaps across the organization.
Key Responsibilities

Lead functional solution design across SAP modules including FI/CO, SD, MM, PP, WM, and integrated applications (strong Finance and Sales background required)

Partner with business leaders to translate requirements into scalable, end-to-end SAP solutions

Own functional architecture documentation including process flows, specifications, and configuration standards

Provide functional leadership during implementations, upgrades, and enhancements

Ensure alignment with SAP best practices and enterprise architecture standards

Collaborate with technical, integration, and development teams to deliver cohesive solutions

Lead process workshops to identify gaps, opportunities, and optimization strategies

Guide testing, training, change management, and user adoption efforts

Stay current on SAP innovations (S/4HANA, Fiori, BTP) and assess business applicability

Provide governance over configuration, custom development, and data migration

Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on SAP capabilities and roadmap alignment

Drive continuous improvement of existing SAP processes and solutions

Support SAP leadership with roadmap planning, vendor evaluations, and external partner management
Required Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on SAP functional experience, including 2+ full lifecycle implementations

Bachelor’s degree required

Deep cross-functional SAP knowledge with strong business process expertise

Experience with SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and Fiori

Proven ability to lead workshops, drive consensus, and influence decisions

Experience in manufacturing, life sciences, consumer goods, or other regulated industries

Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies

Working knowledge of SAP integration platforms (CPI, PI/PO)

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple initiatives with minimal supervision
Additional Requirements

Salary range: $160,600 – $185,000+, with final compensation based on location, experience, and skill set
