SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION  

Leads the design, deployment, configuration and management of Corporate computing services and infrastructure to provide a predictable, highly available and cost effective and secure network.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures 24x7x365 availability of network to internal and external customers.
  • Keeps up-to-date on current and upcoming network-related solutions and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Ensures network is secure from any internal or external threats by implementing best practices and available tools.
  • Coaches team members and develops their abilities on network- related subjects.
  • Provides leadership during major network incidents and ensures service is restored as quickly as possible, escalating when required, ensuring all stakeholders are kept up to date on network status.
  • Configures and supports network equipment, customer specific solutions, network security, firewall, wireless solutions, security solutions, environment and load balancing.
  • Performs Network Operations duties with emphasis on network security and monitoring of network security.
  • Establishes appropriate key performance indicators and reports to supervisor.
  • Develops and conduct proactive maintenance activities designed to ensure optimal operation of the network equipment and solutions.
  • Provides leadership in development, configuration, and support of the IP-based phone system.
  • Ensures day-to-day systems administration is being performed by the IT staff; provides training when necessary.
  • Establishes, documents, and leads disaster recovery drill for our core servers.
  • Establishes, documents, and maintains disaster recovery procedures and maintains current IT’s DRP Manual; coordinates and conducts training and hands- on drills with the IT team.
  • Creates and maintains adequate logical and architectural diagrams for the entire network; makes sure these are published and available to the rest of the IT team.
  • Participates in the IT on-call roster and performs overtime as required.
  • Performs leadership and project work by undertaking projects, as directed, with other staff that may include meeting with customers to capture their requirements, deploying systems, researching new technology or developing efficient and effective solutions.
  • Designs project plans, using lessons learned, project management tools, techniques and software as appropriate; completes allocated projects/tasks/activities to agreed timelines and regularly monitors & reports on the status of project tasks/activities to Project Leader/ supervisor.
  • Attend member meetings and/ or industry conference on occasion when required.

Experience Profile Required:

  • 3-5+ years Network & Systems Administration for a large company (required)
  • 3-5+ years experience - MPLS, VoIP including Cisco IP phones and Call Manager, Cisco ASA Security Appliances and Barracuda Web Filters (required)
  • CCNA Certification (desired, but not required)
  • 3-5+ years experience - VMWare VDI and VSphere environments (preferred)
  • 4-year Degree Required (Computer Science or similar preferred)
